Shona Macdonald - Fine Artist

Shona Macdonald works from Old Cartshed Studio in Findon, West Sussex

Drawing inspiration from the natural world, her work is primarily concerned with the transience of existence, the cyclical nature of our human experience, and the narratives to be found in the elemental materials around us.

Often using her own poetry as a starting point, she explores the interplay of light and darkness as we journey through our lives.

Shona works in a wide range of media, exploring various printmaking, painting and mark-making methods and often incorporating mixed media approaches to ceramic sculptural work. She holds a degree in Fine Art from Middlesex university and worked across various creative industries before returning to her own artist practice a few years ago. Following a two year term at Colonnade House Studios in Worthing where she joined forces with fellow printmaker Peon Boyle and ceramic artist Michael Lainchbury, they decided to set up their own artist studios in Findon.

She teaches drawing and printmaking classes from Old Cartshed Studio, and runs a Drink and Draw group alongside Nicky Bell at venues in East and West Sussex. Her work is gaining recognition and is collected in the UK, Europe and USA.
